Projects From AJD Industry Days Spotligted in Cannes

Two projects presented in the Work in Progress category of the 2nd AJD Industry Days at AJB DOC, "MY MOTHER AND I" by Dilpak Majeed (Iraq) and "BITTER SUGAR" by Ana Barjadze (Georgia) won the Cannes Doc Award

This implies complimentary Marché du Film badges and a presentation in the Spotlighted Project 2024 program of the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, along with the remaining seven projects that come from different collaborations, some received Cannes Docs award, or some have been curated and suggested by Cannes partners and organizations worldwide. 

This award from the partner of the AJD Industry Days gives authors another opportunity to find additional support for their projects, whether in the filming process or in the final distribution of their documentary films.

Logline: A women in her seventies defies societal expectations and clings to her isolated life alongside her sheep with whome she shares an exceptional bond. But when her mother fails ill, she embargs on a journey to rediscover her own courage amidst the challenges of loss and the pursuit of a new beginning.

BITTER SUGAR, Ana Barjadze


Logline: Three brothers living in a dying industrial town in Georgia struggle to cope with life independently, as their parents have been forced to go abroad in search of work.
